About DiveBuddy

DiveBuddy is an international website run by a team of underwater enthusiasts who would rather be underwater than on land. We developed the DiveBuddy website for like-minded divers.

At DiveBuddy headquarters, our primary aim is to put divers, and potential divers, in touch with the diving industry, wherever you are in the world.

We cater for three primary categories within the diving industry: dive charters, retail outlets and dive schools. We also include clubs, because, well, if the weather is bad for diving, talking about diving is the next best thing!

In unfamiliar territory

Planning a diving vacation to some idyllic location far from home? Search for your intended destination on DiveBuddy before you leave and see what options will be available when you arrive.

Or, are you keen to try out a different charter business at your local dive site? Look up members in close proximity to you using our geolocation functionality.

Do you need to do a diving course or book a refresher? Look up registered dive schools in your area.

Read accurate and informative articles on a range of diving-related topics, written by scientists and industry experts. We specialise in dive travel, species profiles, ecology and conservation.

Accountability

Have you had a good experience with a DiveBuddy member business? Rate their service and tell the world what you liked best about your experience. The DiveBuddy site rewards good ratings by placing those businesses at the top of searches.

Had a bad experience with a DiveBuddy member? You can also tell the world…but be constructive. We moderate all comments and do not approve of slander, or irrational criticism.

Our review system is a core aspect of DiveBuddy. Since, you would rather be diving, we don’t want you to hassle with poor service. We want to put divers in touch with the right businesses. Reviewers may choose to remain anonymous, but all comments are moderated by DiveBuddy.

We particularly like specifics when approving comments. What exactly did you like or dislike. We want businesses to leverage their strengths and work on their weaknesses. For example,

We dived with XY Charters on 2017-05-03 and their diving vessel was really neatly maintained, and I felt safe going to sea with them.

Or,

I returned a faulty piece of equipment to XY Dive Retailers within the warranty period and they were reluctant to exchange the product. However, the store manager was able to resolve the problem after I brought the matter to her attention.”

When contacting a DiveBuddy member business, tell them you found them on DiveBuddy. Member businesses are aware of the review system and are more likely to give you good service.

We do not allow businesses to review themselves. This is what their member page is for. We also don’t allow any reviewers to bombard the system with reviews. This prevents anyone from stacking the odds in favour, or against, a dive business.
